Nazareth Girl Goalie a Star on Boys' Team
Junior Allison Kurek, of Chicago, is the starting goalie for the Roadrunners hockey team, continuing a legacy started by her older brother at Naz.

Nazareth Academy junior Allison Kurek has become the starting goalie for the Roadrunners' boys hockey team, a spot held by her brother Bronson a few years ago, The Doings La Grange reports.
According the the paper, Kurek, also an all-Illinois lacrosse midfielder, played junior-varsity as a freshman and some varsity as a senior before landing the starting role this year, where she has racked up an 81 percent save percentage, including 42 in one game.
“The boys kind of scratched their heads about having a girl on the team, but after a while Allison fits right in,” Naz coach Derek Gordon told the paper. “Allison is a very special athlete... It says a lot about her character that she comes out and competes in a couple activities every day. She may come from lacrosse right to a hockey game, but she always gives 100 percent.”
