Olaf Pokrajac, 64, Retired La Grange Fire Department Lieutenant
A wake will be held Aug. 12, and the funeral will take place Aug. 13.

Lt. Olaf Pokrajac, retired from the La Grange Fire Department, died Aug. 10 at the age of 64.
Pokrajac was born Nov. 4, 1950. He was a Vietnam veteran, a beloved husband of 43 years and a devoted father and poppa, according to his obituary from Blake Lamb Funeral Home.
He served the La Grange Fire Department from March 1, 1977 until he retired May 29, 1997, according to the department. He was also a La Grange Fire Fighters Association IAFF Local 2338 member.

A wake will be held from 3-9 p.m. Aug. 12, and the funeral will take place at 10 a.m. Aug. 13 at Blake Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W 103rd St., Oak Lawn.
Pokrajac’s son created a Facebook page in June named for his father’s motto, “Today Matters” to show support. Friends and family are encouraged to post supportive messages and photos of themselves holding signs that say Today Matters.

“As most of you know, my Dad has been fighting prostate cancer since 2008,” he wrote on the page. “His cancer was incurable as it spread through the lymph nodes. He has been fighting it head on and not letting it get the best of him.”
The La Grange Fire Fighters Association IAFF Local 2338 also posted a photo tribute to Pokrajac.
