Police Investigate Fatal Brookfield Shooting
A man was found with gunshot wounds Wednesday afternoon inside a car in Brookfield.

Brookfield, IL - A 33-year-old Brookfield man with gunshot wounds was found unresponsive Wednesday afternoon in the 3700 block of Forest Avenue in Brookfield.
The man, found in the front seat of a car, was taken to Loyola Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:46 p.m., according to a statement from the Village of Brookfield.
Brookfield police were called to the area at 12:09 p.m. Jan. 27 for reports of shots fired when they found the injured man. Witnesses said the shooters left the area southbound on Forest Avenue in a car, the village reported.

Schools in the area were placed on a “soft lockdown” as a precautionary measure.
The Illinois State Police and the Felony Investigation Assistance Team and Major Crimes Assistance Team task force are helping Brookfield Police with the investigation, the village reports.
