Road Repairs, FD Equipment Referenda on LaGrange Park March 15 Ballot

LaGrange Park residents will vote on two bond referenda questions in the March 15 election.

LaGrange Park, IL - LaGrange Park voters will have to decide March 15 on two referenda propositions set to show up on the ballot.

One question asks if bonds should be issued to pay for road improvements on the highest priority streets in need of repair.

Many of the roads in question are near local schools, according to the village. The map below illustrates the proposed roadways.

The question will appear on the ballot with the following wording.

Shall the Village of La Grange Park, Cook County, Illinois, undertake road improvements in and for the Village, including street resurfacing and sidewalk repair, all on property owned by the Village or over which the Village has sufficient easements, and issue its general obligation bonds to the amount of $10,000,000 for the purpose of paying the costs thereof, said bonds bearing interest at not to exceed the rate of 6.00% per annum?

The other referenda question that will appear on ballots has to do with replacing fire department equipment.

Residents will be asked if $1.2 million in bonds should be issued to replace a ladder truck and an ambulance, which are used in emergencies. The village's current ladder truck is 26 years old, and it responded to 149 emergencies in 2015, according to the village.

The question will appear on the ballot with this wording.

Shall the Village of La Grange Park, Cook County, Illinois, purchase fire safety vehicles and equipment for the public welfare and safety of the Village, and issue its general obligation bonds to the amount of $1,200,000 for the purpose of paying the costs thereof, said bonds bearing interest at not to exceed the rate of 6.00% per annum?
