Steven Patrick Kent

Steven's world revolved around his wife and girls.

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Steven Patrick Kent who left this world on Saturday, July 5, at the age of 57. Steven was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born in December of 1967 to Janice and Thomas Kent (both deceased). Steven grew up on the Southside of Chicago which he was incredibly proud of. He then built a life with his family in La Grange Park, where he leaves behind a legion of loyal friends and neighbors, and his treasured role of “Coach Kent” to many St. Francis Xavier Falcons and United Football players.

Steven’s world revolved around his wife and girls. He was a devoted husband and best friend to his adoring wife Christina (O’Connell) for 25 years. He was a proud and doting “girl dad” to their four girls, Madeline, Katherine, MaryRose, and Lilly. He cared for his girls so deeply and was always so present, loving, and supportive of them in every way. He is also survived by his three sisters, Mary Beth (Barry) Duffy, Julie (Guy) Oberwise, and Anne (Kevin) Copps, as well as his cherished nieces and nephews, and many cousins. Steven was also a wonderful and loving best friend to his dog Butch McQuire.

Steven was always the funniest guy in the room, but also loved to have deep conversations and truly get to know all around him. His gift of story-telling and witty sense of humor was unmatched. Steven never met a stranger and for those who knew him well, he was certain to be their absolute favorite person or best friend.

Steven was a proud graduate of Marist High School. He enjoyed varied careers ranging from working for the Chicago White Sox, the Chicago Board of Trade and in 2014 he started Chicago Security Professionals where he worked incredibly hard to turn it into the successful company it is today. Always creative, innovative and charming, Steven thrived in any industry or setting.

Life will be a lot less fun and exciting without Steven in it. His memory will live on in his wife, his four beautiful girls, the ways he showed his love for others, and the many memorable “Steven Stories.”
