Western Springs Police Reports: Beer in Car, Fraud, Car Burglary

Western Springs Police Department provided crime and arrest information through Nov. 30.

Someone obtained and fraudulently used a victim’s credit card account number to make several unlawful retail purchases totaling $2,813.51, according to Western Springs police. The purchases were made in the Chicago area between Nov. 10 and 13

Someone entered an unlocked car parked on a residential driveway in the 5100 block of Woodland Avenue and reportedly stole multiple gift cards with a combined retail value of about $2,000, according to Western Springs police. Loose change totaling about $10 was also taken from the center console of the car. The burglary occurred sometime between 8 p.m. Nov. 25 and 9:10 a.m. Nov. 26

A patrol officer saw a man by his parked car at 3:25 a.m. Nov. 29 in the 5500 block of Woodland Drive. The man told the officer he was changing a tire. The officer saw an open container of beer in the man’s car and a consent search of the car yielded a pipe used as drug paraphernalia, according to Western Springs police. Joseph P. Kronenwetter, 21 of Taylor Road in Glen Ellyn was arrested and issued a local ordinance citation for the paraphernalia and a state citation for illegal transportation of alcohol.
