Western Springs Police Reports: Drug Possession, DUI, Invalid License

Devin J. White, 21 of the 1700 block of Whispering Oak Drive in Plainfield, rear-ended another car Dec. 17 at Ogden and Grove avenues, according to Western Springs police. A records check confirmed White was driving with a suspended license and no insurance. There were no injuries reported in the crash.

A 15-year-old male juvenile of La Grange Park was arrested Dec. 17 at Lyons Township South High School campus after he was found in possession of a small amount of suspected cannabis, according to Western Springs police.

Scott H. Abbott, 46 of the 4700 block of St. Joseph Creek Drive in Lisle, was stopped for speeding Dec. 18 in the 4700 block of Gilbert Avenue, according to Western Springs police. While speaking with defendant, the arresting officer smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The defendant was offered and attempted a series of field sobriety tests and was arrested for drunken driving.

Alejandra Merlos-Ruiz, 25 of the 5300 block of West 31st Street in Cicero, was stopped Dec. 20 for driving with only one functioning headlight at Ogden and Howard avenues. A records check confirmed defendant was driving without a license and without insurance.
