Western Springs Police Reports: Fraud, DUI, Suspended License

Western Springs Police Department provided crime and arrest information through Feb. 1.

Someone fraudulently obtained and used a victim’s credit card number to make several unauthorized retail purchases between Dec. 9, 2015, and Jan. 12. The purchases totaled $607.30 and were made in Ohio and New York.

Kenneth M. Chin, 25 of the 300 block of N. Malden Avenue in La Grange Park, was stopped Jan. 24 for speeding over the posted limit at Forest and Ogden avenues. While speaking with Chin, the arresting officer smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and observed that he had extremely glassy eyes. Chin performed a series of field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for DUI.

Someone fraudulently obtained and used a victim’s personal information to make several unauthorized retail purchases on or around Jan. 25. The purchases totaled about $4,000.

Adel G. Alhalafi (male), 22 of the 200 block of Remington Court in South Mishawaka, Indiana, was stopped Jan. 29 for speeding over the posted limit at Central and Ogden avenues. A records check confirmed Alhalafi was driving with a suspended license.

Cristian Martinez, 20 of the 4500 block of S. Troy in Chicago, was stopped Jan. 30 for speeding over the posted limit at 55th Street and Willow Springs Road. A records check confirmed he was driving without a license.
