Western Springs Police Reports: Property Damage, Hit and Run, Fraud

Western Springs Police Department provided crime and arrest information through Jan. 11.

Western Springs, IL - Someone fraudulently obtained and used a victim’s credit card number to make unauthorized retail purchases between Dec. 12, 2015 and Dec. 21, 2015. The purchases totaled $474.99.

Someone used someone’s personal identification information to obtain a fraudulent retail store credit account and purchased $1,000-worth of merchandise at a store in Chicago on Dec. 23, 2015.

Someone intentionally damaged the front passenger-side window of a car that was parked on a residential driveway sometime between 4 p.m. and 7 a.m. Jan. 9 in the 600 block of Courtland Circle. There were no items disturbed or missing from inside the car.

Someone intentionally damaged a black lamp post between 12:30 p.m. Jan. 7 and 12:30 p.m. Jan. 9 in the front yard of a home in the 5500 block of Grand Avenue. It appeared the lamp was damaged with a brick that was recovered at the scene.

Manuel Torres Jr, 30 of the 6100 block of S. Kildare Avenue in Chicago, was driving a car that was struck from behind by another car Jan. 4 in the 800 block of Burlington Avenue. A records check confirmed Torres was driving with a suspended license. There were no injuries reported as a result of the crash.

Kymberli A. Janek, 46 of the 6800 block of Ridgeland Avenue in Hammond, Indiana, was stopped Jan. 4 for making an improper u-turn at Ogden Avenue and Interstate 294. A records check confirmed Janek was driving with a suspended license.

Christopher M. Brown, 42 of the 100 block of Sawyer Avenue in La Grange, was arrested Jan. 10 after a brief investigation confirmed he was driving a car that struck another car at Ogden Avenue and Wolf Road, and Brown reportedly left the scene of the crash. There were no injuries as a result of the crash.

Erica Y. Vazquez, 37 of the 900 block of Greenview Avenue, Des Plaines, was stopped Jan. 10 for driving a car with only one functioning headlight at Ogden and Forest avenues. A records check confirmed defendant was driving with a suspended license.
