Western Springs Police Reports: Tire Slashing, Phone Theft, DUI

Western Springs Police Department provided crime and arrest information through Dec. 14.

Someone intentionally damaged the front tires of a car that was parked on a driveway sometime between 5 p.m. Dec. 9 and 8:15 a.m. Dec. 10 in the 3900 block of Hampton Avenue. The offender cut the tires with a sharp instrument.

A 15-year-old La Grange Park boy was arrested Dec. 8 and issued a local ordinance citation for theft after a follow-up investigation confirmed he stole an iPhone 6 at about 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Lyons Township South High School Field House. The phone was returned to its owner.

Donaciano Cruz-Uribe, 48 of the 4800 block of S. Seeley Avenie in Chicago, was stopped around 2 a.m. Dec. 8 for improper lane usage at 55th Street and Interstate-294. While speaking with Cruz-Uribe, the arresting officer smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and also saw he had glassy eyes. Cruz-Uribe was offered and attempted a series of field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for DUI and for having a suspended license.

Michael Hoskin, 38 of the 1100 block of Village Creek in Jonesboro, Georgia, was stopped Dec. 9 for driving with only one headlight at Wolf Road and Ogden Avenue. A records check confirmed he was driving with a suspended license and registration and no insurance.

Pablo T. Fernandez-Campos, 21 of the 3100 block of Oak Park Avenue in Berwyn, was stopped Dec. 10 for driving with no functioning rear registration plate light at Harvey Avenue and Ogden Avenue. While speaking with Fernandez-Campos, the arresting officer smelled a strong odor of cannabis coming from inside the car. A bag containing cannabis material was found in his coat pocket and two pipes used for drug paraphernalia were found inside the car. The defendant was issued local ordinance citations for the cannabis and paraphernalia charges and traffic citations for an expired driver’s license, no insurance and no rear registration plate light.

Raymond E. Krones, 59 of the 100 block of Orlan Brook Drive in Orland Park was stopped Dec. 10 for speeding over the posted limit at Ogden Avenue and Interstate 294. A records check confirmed defendant was driving with a suspended license.

Tiffancy M. Smith, 45 of the 800 block of S. Humphrey Avenue in Oak Park was stopped for speeding over the posted limit at Howard Avenue and Ogden Avenue. A records check confirmed defendant was driving without a valid license.
