2023 Lake Forest, Lake Bluff Trick-Or-Treat Hours, Halloween Events

Find out when local businesses are planning to welcome trick-or-treaters ahead of Halloween.

LAKE FOREST, IL — With Halloween weekend just around the corner, Skokie residents who need to head to the store for some candy or who have little ones headed out to trick-or-treat are finalizing their preparations.

For those who choose to participate in the holiday on Tuesday, Oct. 31, official trick-or-treat hours run from 4 to 8 p.m. in Lake Forest and from 4 to 7 p.m. in Lake Bluff.

Residents welcoming trick-or-treaters during that time should turn on exterior lights, while those that do not wish to take part are encouraged to turn their porch lights off or put up signs notifying visitors that they are not participating in trick-or treat.

For the days leading up to All Hallow's Eve, here are some other community events scheduled to be held in Lake Forest and Lake Bluff.

Boo in the Square
Thursday, 4 to 6 p.m., Market Square, 264 Market Square Ct.
This free family-friendly event will include a costume contest for children of all ages, a live DJ, photo booth and costumed and balloon characters. Attendees can enjoy trick-or-treating and Halloween candy from local businesses while supplies las.

Trick-or-Treat at the Library
10 a.m. to 9 p.m., through Tuesday, Lake Bluff Public Library, 123 E. Scranton Ave.
Costumes are encouraged at the library, as kids, teens and adults can stop by all week to check with the staff at the circulation desk for a treat, while supplies last.

Halloween Tricks & Treats
Friday, 5 to 7 p.m., Lake Forest Recreation Center, 400 Hastings Road
This free event is aimed at preschoolers through 3rd graders and their parents. Organizers promise plenty of age-appropriate activities.

Lake Bluff Pumpkin Chase
Saturday, 8 a.m. (5K), 9:15 a.m. (1 mile), 121 E. Sheridan Place
This year's Lake Bluff PTO Pumpkin Chase includes a 5-kilometer certified course around east Lake Bluff down to the bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. There will be a pumpkin fest after the race at Lake Bluff Middle School, near to the finish line. Participants can sign up online.
