7-Vehicle Crash Temporarily Shuts Down Route 41 In Lake Bluff

Traffic was diverted for under an hour Tuesday after police and fire crews were called to the scene. Only minor injuries were reported.

LAKE BLUFF, IL — A seven-vehicle crash caused the closure of southbound U.S. Route 41 in Lake Bluff for less than an hour Tuesday evening, authorities said.

Police said crash took place around 4:45 p.m., just south of the railroad bridge over the road.

North Chicago police managed traffic control, while fire departments from Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, and North Chicago provided emergency medical services, according to Lake Bluff Deputy Chief Erik Gehrke told Patch.

Paramedics evaluated seven people for injuries, and three vehicles required towing from the scene. Only minor injuries were reported, said Lake Forest Fire Chief Pete Siebert.

Southbound Route 41 was partially shut down for under an hour as crews cleared the area. The roadway has since reopened.
