LAKE FOREST, IL — The portion of the Woodland Road underneath the Robert McClory Bike Path will be closed from Monday through Aug. 13 for the installation of a new pedestrian bridge, city staff announced.

The existing steel bridge that carries cyclists and pedestrians over Woodland Road between North McKinley Road and North Western Avenue reached the end of its lifespan and needed to be replaced, according to staff.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the intersection of North McKinley and East Woodland roads will be closed during the day to allow for a crane to place the new structure, although the intersection will reopen in the evenings.

"Bicycle and pedestrian traffic from the Robert McClory Bike Path will continue to be detoured at Woodland and McKinley Roads while the bridge remains closed for the duration of the project," staff announced.

According to city staff, working hours for the project run weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and, if needed, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends, although additional hours "may be necessary to make sure this project is completed before August 16," staff announced. (via City of Lake Forest)
