DUI Charges for Driver Who Led Police on Chase Through North Shore Ending in Gunfire

The chase started in Highland Park, went through Lake Bluff and ended at the Naval Station Great Lakes.

A Chicago man who police say led officers from multiple jurisdictions on a chase through the North Shore Thursday, ending in gunfire at the Naval Station Great Lakes, night has been charged with DUI, according to an article in TribLocal.

The incident began when Paul Sasso, 44, of the 4300 block of South Sawyer, failed to stop for a Highland Park officer who tried to pull him over for lane violations around 10:30 p.m. on Route 41, the article says. Lake Bluff officers then picked up the chase, which didn’t reach high speeds in either community. At one point, officers set up spikes, which Sasso ran over, then continued driving.

He then drove onto the Naval Station Great Lakes, where a security officer fired four shots at the car, according to ABC 7. Sasso finally stopped when he hit two Navy security vehicles that were set up as a blockade.
