Fear No Art Festival Features CLC Student Originals Across Disciplines
The 24th annual artistic celebration is set to present a wide range of performance styles and work by students at College of Lake County.

WAUKEGAN, IL — Original art from students at College of Lake Count will be on display this weekend as part of the 24th annual Fear No Art festival.
The two-day festival features a wide range of performance and visual art over two days, including new works by emerging choreographers, dancers, musicians, singers, actors, photographers, artists, graphic designers and poets.
Fear No Art began in 1999, founded by CLC dance instructor Valerie Alpert, the artistic director of the festival. Rather than being led by faculty, the festival presents a collection of student originals.

“When I went to college, there was little opportunity for students to present and showcase their own work,” Alpert said, announcing this year's lineup. “I think it is important that students are given an opportunity to have a safe space and mentoring in their own creative process.”
Performances scheduled for the festival include:

- Contemporary ballet by Christine Chernoff
- Hip hop dancing by Andy Anisco, Ben Torres and Kendra McCoy
- Latin dance by Giselle Leon
- Umbrella foot juggling by Avi Kritzman
Work by visual artists will be on display in the lobby of the theater:
- Fine art photography by Vince Adams
- Ink on paper, watercolor painting and acrylic painting on canvas by George Erkenswick
- Oil painting by Tanner Newman
- Posters by Ghanaian artists painted by Chris Cooling, a communications instructor at the college
Fear No Art takes place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, and 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at the mainstage theater of the James Lumber Center for the Performing Art on the College of Lake County's Grayslake campus at 19351 W. Washington St. Tickets are available for purchase online for $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and military and $5 for children under 12.
