Gas Main Break Closes Part of Route 60

Route 60 was closed for a about an hour and a half between Waukegan and Field Court/Conway Farms Road

Updated 12:30 p.m.:

The leak was caused by a construction crew that was digging at the southeast corner of IL Route 60 and Conway Farms Road and accidentally cut the line, according to Deputy Chief of Police Karl Walldorf. Northshore Gas responded and shut off the line, at which point the road was reopened.

The city sent an email out a few minutes past noon saying the road has been opened.

The following is from the City of Lake Forest. It was sent at 10:15 a.m. Friday:

GAS MAIN BREAK ON RTE. 60; ROAD CLOSED BETWEEN WAUKEGAN ROAD AND FIELD COURT/CONWAY FARMS ROAD

Rte. 60 will be closed from Waukegan Road west to Conway Farms Road/Field Court for approximately 40 more minutes due to a gas main break. Police and Fire are on the scene. Please check www.cityoflakeforest.com for updates.
