A Lake County Forest Preserve District officer is credited with saving the life of a 15-month-old baby boy.
Ranger Police Officer Logan Dreyer was on duty at a private event at the Greenbelt Cultural Center in North Chicago on Aug. 2 when a baby at the event stopped breathing and moving, according to a Lake County Forest Preserve District press release.

Dreyer called 911 and began administering CPR to the baby boy. The baby began breathing on his own but only took a few breaths at a time before stopping again, according to the news release.
“Each time the baby stopped breathing, Officer Dreyer continued to administer CPR until North Chicago Medical Services arrived and took over the effort,” according to the news release.

The baby was then transported to Vista Medical Center in Waukegan.
The family of the baby reported Monday that the incident may have been caused by a seizure. The baby has been released from the hospital and is doing very well.
“Swift and decisive action by Officer Dreyer, trained in CPR for infants and adults, contributed to the baby’s survival,” according to the news release.
