Lake Forest High School Star Student Athlete Has 'Good Guy Attitude'

LAKE FOREST, IL — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

The submission below comes from Susan Jarzembski who nominated family friend Kevin, of Lake Forest, who named a semifinalist for a college scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation in September.

And this fall, as a senior on the Lake Forest High School cross country team, Kevin ran 2 miles with the fifth-best time on the team, had the sixth-best time going 3 miles and the seventh-best in a 5,000-meter run.

On the cross country team, Kevin's reputation as a student of character is well respected, having been selected as co-captain in this his senior year.

On the baseball fields he has been a strong competitor determined and driven by a desire for constantly improving throughout his high school career.

Now let's get to the good guy part.

A top student at his high school, Kevin also takes time to lend his musical talent in two community bands.

He's an active volunteer who steps up when needed and does it all with a good attitude — an athlete, scholar and the very definition of a "good kid."
