Lake Forest School Board Creates New Vacancy While Filling Vacant Seat
As its board president heads to District 115, District 67 now has two vacant school board seats.

LAKE FOREST, IL — The Lake Forest School District 67 board is now on the hunt for candidates to fill two vacancies after its president, Annie Geraghty Helms, was selected to fill a seat on the Lake Forest Community High School District 115 board.
Helms is due to be sworn in to the District 115 board on June 4, where she is set to serve out the rest of the term of Dr. Marcus Schabacker ahead of next April's municipal elections, according to Matt Montgomery, the superintendent of both districts.
"In particular, the District 115 Board has sought candidates with strong operational background and relevant governance experience," Montgomery said, announcing the appointment.

The superintendent said the board interviewed two candidates on Tuesday evening before deciding on Helms, an attorney who leads and manages the pro bono program for one of the largest law firms in the world.
Helms' resignation from the elementary school board in favor of its high school counterpart adds to the vacant seat left by the recent departure of Alice LeVert, the former District 67 vice president who was sworn in Monday as a 3rd Ward alderman on the Lake Forest City Council.

Montgomery said the District 67 would be filling both vacancies at its June 18 meeting.
"It is the Board’s goal to have a selection process that is as open as possible," according to the superintendent. "To this end, the Board encourages all interested and qualified individuals to apply for the District 67 interim positions."
Applications for the vacant school board seats must be submitted by 5 p.m. Monday.
