Letter to the Editor: Patt for District 67 Board

As the former President of the Board of Education in neighboring Oak Grove School District 68 I worked closely with Mr. Patrick Patt who was the District 68 Superintendent for 18 years. Upon his retirement, the Oak Grove Board wrote a letter of appreciation to Mr. Patt that was signed by all 7 members of the board. In our letter we highlighted Patrick’s personal qualities as well as his numerous accomplishments in our district. Our letter is two pages in length, but the following excerpts convey the essence of Patrick’s effectiveness as an outstanding educational leader. 

“While he has immersed himself fully and committed his effort wholeheartedly to District 68, Patrick nonetheless maintains a global perspective. He is well versed on regional, state and national issues, particularly those related to education and fiscal policy and is often called upon by the media for comment.” 

“Patrick is a person of unquestionable integrity whose decisions and actions are driven by his principles and who sets equally high standards for others.” 

“Patrick is thoroughly versed and competent in all fields including board relations, school law and policy, curriculum development and human resources. Of particular note is Patrick’s exceptional expertise in the area of financial management. The levy and budget process for public schools is extremely complex and convoluted and Patrick thoroughly understands all of its intricacies.” 

Patrick Patt’s knowledge, skills, personal qualities and commitment to improving the education of all children make him an outstanding candidate for a seat on the Lake Forest District 67 Board of Education. I am pleased to give him my endorsement and my full support.
