Schaumburg Man Drowns In Water Off Fort Sheridan Beach, Dies

Lake County Coroner's Office identified the man as Jianyun Shen, 35, and said preliminary autopsy results were consistent with drowning.

LAKE FOREST, IL — A 35-year-old Schaumburg man found unresponsive in the waters off Fort Sheridan Beach Sunday has been pronounced dead, according to the Lake County Forest Preserve Police.

Officials said they received a report of a man in distress around 3:30 p.m. Sunday and responded along with the Lake Forest Fire Department.

According to the Lake County Coroner's Office, Jianyun Shen was rescued from the water and taken to Highland Park Hospital, where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room. A preliminary autopsy Monday confirmed his death was consistent with a drowning.

Police said the manner of Shen's death is under investigation.
