Motorcyclist 'Killed Immediately' In Crash With Semitrailer In Lake Forest
Police said a man riding a Suzuki crashed while trying to pass between a loaded semitrailer and another car Sunday afternoon on Route 41.

LAKE FOREST, IL — A motorcyclist died in a crash with a semitrailer Sunday in Lake Forest, police said.
Police and fire crews were dispatched shortly after 4 p.m. to the intersection of Routh 41 and Westleigh Road, where they found a motorcyclist who had been ejected from his bike.
The biker, later identified as 46-year-old Beach Park resident Hector Gomez, was driving a 2017 Suzuki north on Route 41 "at a high rate of speed," according to police, when he tried to pass between a semitrailer in the furthest right lane and another car in the inside lane.

While passing between the two vehicles in a maneuver, police described as "lane-splitting," the motorcyclist crashed into the rear driver's side of the loaded trailer.
Investigators believe Gomez was ejected and killed immediately.

The intersection of Route 41 and Westleigh Road was closed Sunday as the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team, the Lake County Coroner's Office and Lake Forest police processed the scene.
