Obituary: Stanley "Stas" Pestka
Stas Pestka participated in the Lake Bluff Baseball Association as a coach, mentor, umpire and commissioner for nearly 20 years.

Stanley “Stas” Pestka, June 24, 1956 – Dec. 9, 2012 passed peacefully in St. Louis, surrounded by his family.
Stas was born in St. Louis and went to Western Illinois University. He played soccer there and was captain for 3 years and voted most valuable player all 4 years. He moved to Lake Bluff in 1985 and was the owner of Pestka Carpentry. He loved baseball and participated in the Lake Bluff Baseball Association as a coach, mentor, umpire and commissioner for nearly 20 years. On spring and summer nights, he could always be found at one of the ball fields. He was an avid fisherman, preferring the small ponds surrounding the area. He carried his fishing pole with him, just in case he happened upon a pond that looked promising.
Stas is survived by his children's mother Beth (Powers) Pestka; his children, Shannon Pestka, Adam Pestka, and Allison Pestka; his parents, Bernard and Delores Pestka; brother, Craig (Kelly) Pestka, and companion Gina (Vitale) Wade. He was a beloved uncle, cousin, friend, coach, neighbor and teacher.
