PRESS RELEASE: LFHS Junior Develops AI That Mirrors Teachers to Enhance Student Learning

LFHS Junior Vedh Krishnan has built two AI tools aimed at enhancing student learning and making teacher support more accessible.

Lake Forest, IL — Lake Forest Community High School (LFHS) junior Vedh Krishnan has built two AI tools aimed at enhancing student learning and making teacher support more accessible.

With guidance from LFHS Computer Science teacher Steve Aronson, Krishnan created:

  • Gigiano AI – an AI assistant trained on AP World and European History lectures from LFHS instructor Thomas Gigiano, replicating his tone, explanations, and conversational style. The tool helps students study more effectively by providing real-time clarification and targeted review—mirroring the experience of asking their teacher a question.
  • Build a Teacher – an interactive AI platform that allows students to select specific LFHS faculty members and pose academic questions anytime, even outside the school day. This personalized, teacher-like interface aims to make high-quality academic support available around the clock.

Krishnan recently showcased his projects at the AI in Education (AIED) Summit at Khan Lab School in Mountain View, California, an event founded by Sal Khan of Khan Academy. There, he demonstrated how his AI tools enhance learning, deepen understanding, and build new connections between teachers and students. The Summit highlights innovative ideas that advance equity, creativity, and engagement in education through responsible use of artificial intelligence.

Reflecting on the role of AI in schools, Krishnan said, “AI is a thinking assistant, not a shortcut. Knowing how to use AI—and how to ask it good prompts—is going to be very valuable. These tools shouldn’t give students the answers, but guide them and lead them to the answer.”
