Repaving Project Promises Smoother Rides On Robert McClory Bike Path In Lake Forest
The popular path will be widened from eight to 10 feet during the resurfacing project, city officials said.

LAKE FOREST, IL — A portion of a popular local multi-use path will be closed for about three weeks as part of a resurfacing project set to begin Monday.
Lake Forest city officials announced plans to begin repaving the Robert McClory bike path from Westleigh Road to Illinois Road.
Workers will remove the existing surface, widen the path by two additional feet and then place a new surface on the 10-foot wide path.

Residents ranked parks and trails among their top priorities in a communitywide survey last year, prompting the allocation of city funder to replace a portion of the path that is in poor condition, officials announced.
Cyclists heading into Lake Forest from the south will be detoured from East Westleigh Road briefly onto Sheridan Road before turning left onto East Highview Terrace.

The detour then heads north, making a right onto South Maywood Road and then a left onto Washington Circle, continuing as it becomes East Illinois and College roads before rejoining the bike path at Deerpath.
Conduction is scheduled to take place, weather permitting, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends, with additional hours possible to expedite the project.
