Round Lake Man Charged With Impersonating Police Officer, Committing Home Invasion In Waukegan

A Round Lake man allegedly impersonated a police officer while committing an armed home invasion in Waukegan last month, according to court documents.

Armando Elisea-Valdovinos, 38, of the 300 block of South Arrowhead Court in Round Lake, was charged with home invasion, two counts of false personation of a peace officer and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

The incident occurred at an apartment in the 800 block of Grand Avenue in Waukegan on January 21, according to court documents.

Elisea-Valdovinos allegedly falsely told a male resident of the apartment that he was a Chicago Police Department officer, according to a criminal complaint.

Elisea-Valdovinos allegedly entered the apartment while armed with a firearm and threatened to use force on the resident, the complaint said.

Elisea-Valdovinos does not have a Firearm Owner’s Identification Card to possess a firearm, the complaint said.

Waukegan Police Department detectives identified Elisea-Valdovinos as the suspect and the state’s attorney’s office approved charges.

An arrest warrant was issued for Elisea-Valdovinos three days after the incident.

He was arrested and appeared in bond court where Lake County Judge Haxall ordered Elisea-Valdovinos held on a $350,000 bond.

Haxall also ordered the man to not possess any firearms or any law enforcement identification should he be able to post the $35,000 cash deposit.

An arraignment hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
