The Clockworks Offers More Than Timepieces

Don’t let the name deceive you. The Clockworks does, of course, specialize in clocks. The Lake Bluff store buys, sells, repairs and restores antique timepieces of all sizes.

But the experts at the store can also repair your old mercury barometer and spruce up your music boxes. And recently, the store teamed with Vintage Time & Light which, in addition to clocks, restores and sells vintage lamps. 

“This is kind of an amalgamation of many things,” said owner David Lee of Lake Forest.

Lee said he bought The Clockworks from a friend who began the business in Lake Forest in 1972. A few years ago Lee relocated his shop from Lake Forest to Lake Bluff.

Customers, Lee said, can expect “great customer service, terrific repairs, antique clocks and watches that have been restored and new watches that you can’t find many other places.”
