Waukegan Man Caught Stealing From Gurnee Car: Police

A 39-year-old man is being accused of stealing multiple items from an unlocked car in Gurnee.

GURNEE, IL — A Waukegan man is being accused of burglary, according to a release from the village's police department. Michael Edwards, 39, has a warrant for his arrest.

Police say that on Aug. 29, around 5 a.m., they went to a house in the 4000 block of Kenwood Avenue on a motor vehicle burglary report. The victim left their doors unlocked.

They found that the glove box and center console had been opened and items were "thrown throughout the vehicle."

Several items were stolen, police say.

Investigators got video surveillance of the incident and posted it on social media. Within hours, investigators got a tip to the Edwards' identity.

Investigators got a warrant for his arrest on Aug. 30, but attempts to find him have been unsuccessful.

Anybody with information on Edwards' whereabouts is asked to call the police. He's not believed to be armed or dangerous.
