Woodlands Academy senior receives National Merit commendation
Evelyn Seliga joins some 34,000 high school seniors receiving a National Merit Letter of Commendation for exceptional academic promise.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – In addition to a recently announced Semifinalist, one more Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart student has distinguished herself in the current National Merit Scholarship competition. School officials recently were informed that senior Evelyn Maria Seliga is among the approximately 34,000 high school seniors nationwide being recognized for exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their performance on a qualifying test.
Seliga received a Letter of Commendation from Woodlands and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program. While included among the top scorers, commended students do not continue in the National Merit Scholarship awards competition. However, they may be eligible for special scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses.
According to NMSC, these students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments and their schools' critical role in their academic development is vital to advancing educational excellence in the U.S.
