Beach Expansion Underway at Paulus Park
The expansion will provide a larger sandy beach to the community and in future years a larger in water swim area.

From The Village of Lake Zurich: The Village of Lake Zurich has begun an expansion of one of its most popular attractions, the public beach at Paulus Park, which attracts about 4,000 people each year. The expansion will provide a larger sandy beach to the community and in future years, facilitate a larger swim area in the water.
The scope of the project, most of which will be completed using in-house Village labor, includes approximately $20,000 of new sand, landscaping enhancements, and the installation of a permeable walkway to the beach. The new beach section should be complete by the end of July, weather permitting.
“Our lake is our namesake as a community and our most prized amenity,” says Mayor Tom Poynton. “It is a natural resource that draws thousands each year to our two public beaches. The Village staff team has done a great job securing $20,000 in grant funds to provide our village with a much larger beach at Paulus Park.”

The beach expansion has been made possible by a $20,000 grant by the Lake County Stormwater Management Commission, an organization that exists to improve water quality, reduce flood damages, and restore and enhance natural drainage systems.
“The new and improved beach at our most popular park will be great for our guests to enjoy the summer season,” says Recreation Manager Bonnie Caputo. “The new part of the beach will make a great spot to view the annual Independence Day fireworks display and we anticipate an expansion of the current swimming area in future years.”
