Lake Zurich residents could soon have a place to grow their own fruits and vegetables in town, the Lake Zurich Courier reports.
If the village trustees give the go-head, a community garden will be started at Oak Ridge Park next spring. The idea sprouted from similar gardens in towns like Barrington, Evanston and Grayslake, where community members can use a plot of land for a small fee to grow their own produce. There is also talk of volunteer plots where food grown will be donated to food pantries, the newspaper reports.
