Coroner IDs Lake Zurich Man Hit By Car

LAKE ZURICH, IL — A 38-year-old Lake Zurich man who was hit and killed by a car Saturday night has been identified as Jose Portillo of Lake Zurich.

The incident occurred at about 11:40 p.m. Saturday when officers responded to a report of an intoxicated person in the area of Route 12 and June Terrace, according to a news release from the Lake County Coroner's Office. When they arrived at the scene they found a 38-year-old man lying in the roadway after being hit by a vehicle.

Officers attempted life-saving measures but the man, who was identified Tuesday as Jose Portillo of Lake Zurich, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner's office. Preliminary results from an autopsy show Portillo died from blunt force injuries as as a result of the crash.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
