Coroner IDs Man Found Dead After Home Explosion
Meanwhile, the cause of the explosion at the home in the 23500 block of North Overhill Road near Lake Zurich is under investigation.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified a 77-year-old man killed when his house exploded last week near Lake Zurich.
Dental records were used to positively identify Timothy Toczylowski, 77, as the man found dead among the rubble of the leveled home in the 23500 block of North Overhill Road in unincorporated Lake Zurich at about 8:30 p.m. on June 4, according to a news release from the Lake County Coroner's Office.
On Friday evening, the coroner's office's forensic odontologist completed a dental examination and compared their findings to Toczylowski's dental records before positively identifying him.

Results from an autopsy show Toczylowski had injuries consistent with inhalation of products of combustion, according to the coroner's news release. The coroner's office is waiting for toxicology testing, including carbon monoxide testing, to confirm the final cause of death.
Authorities were called to Toczylowski's home in the 23500 block of North Overhill Road in unincorporated Lake Zurich at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday after receiving several reports of an explosion.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they found the home completely leveled, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office. Police said the body of an adult man was found in the rubble.
Authorities were initially unable to identity the person but could only confirm he was a dead male.
The cause of the explosion remains under investigation by Lake County Sheriff’s Office Fire Investigators, Lake Zurich Rural Fire Protection District, and Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal.
