Coroner IDs Man Killed In Deer Park Collision

The 71-year-old Mount Prospect man was killed in the two-vehicle crash in Deer Park Sunday morning.

DEER PARK, IL — The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified a 71-year-old Mount Prospect man killed in a two-vehicle crash in Deer Park Sunday morning.

Robert Clauss died after the Alfa Romero he was driving west on Lake Cook Road at Ferndale Road in Deer Park collided with a 2025 Jeep Wrangler at about 10:20 a.m. Sunday, according to police and the Lake County Coroner's Office. Authorities say the Jeep pulled in front of Clauss's car while turning left from eastbound Lake Cook Road.

Clauss was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital where he died a short time later in the emergency room, police said. A passenger in the car, a 63-year-old Mount Prospect woman, was also taken to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Preliminary results from an autopsy show Clauss died from blunt force injuries as a result of a crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
