Police Officer Locates Missing Elderly Couple In Lake Zurich, Reunites Them With Family Members

The police department commended Officer Przemyslaw Struga for his "quick and decisive action" which led to their safe return.

A police officer in Lake Zurich on Wednesday located an elderly couple who had been missing for days and reunited them with family members.

Lake Zurich Police Department Officer Przemyslaw Struga observed a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Rand Road near Ela Road.

Struga initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle around 1:55 a.m. Wednesday.

The officer discovered the driver and passenger were an elderly couple who had been reported missing from Aurora since Sunday morning.

Dispatchers made contact with the Aurora Police Department and the family was notified that the two had been located.

Struga escorted the couple to the Lake Zurich Police Department and determined they had not eaten for several hours.

Struga purchased food for the couple and later reunited them with family members at the Lake Zurich Police Department.

“Due to Officer Struga’s diligent efforts in enforcing traffic laws and monitoring Lake Zurich roadways for potential violators, he was able to locate the missing elderly couple and reunite them safely with family members,” Officer-in-Charge Dion Thiergood said.

The Lake Zurich Police Department said they commend Struga for his “quick and decisive action” which led to the safe return of the missing couple.
