Manhunt Ends with Capture, Multiple Charges
A manhunt for a suspect who led police on a foot pursuit through Lake Zurich and North Barrington ended in capture late Friday afternoon.

A 26-year-old Chicago man who led police on a foot and helicopter pursuitΒ through Lake Zurich and North BarringtonΒ Friday afternoon after he fledΒ the scene of a domestic battery incident then crashedΒ his carΒ is now in the custody of Lake Zurich Police, according to a press release.
Jermaine L. Pugh, of 8137 South Evans St., Chicago, has been charged with Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding; Driving While Driverβs License is Revoked; Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance; Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver; andΒ Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Traffic Crash.
A bond hearing was scheduled for Saturday.

Pugh had beenΒ listed as the wanted suspect in an ISPERN dispatch initiated by the Island Lake Police Department for domestic battery. Shortly before 2 p.m. Friday, he fled the area in aΒ 2007 silver Nissan Maxima but wasΒ confronted by aΒ Lake Zurich police officer at a gas station atΒ Route 12 and Miller Road, according to police.
Pugh sped off downΒ southbound Route 12 and was pursued by the officer, whoΒ terminated the pursuit after Pugh drove through the median due to the high volume of traffic.Β

Pugh was then involved in a property damage crashΒ on Route 12 at Honey Lake Road thenΒ crashed his vehicleΒ at Beech Street and fled on foot.Β HeΒ was pursued by police officers from Lake Zurich, Hawthorn Woods, Island Lake and the Lake County Sheriffβs Office.
As a result of the manhunt, North Barrington Elementary was placed on lockdown. Though school was not in session Friday, staff members were in the building.
PughΒ was apprehended on Route 59 at Miller Road in North Barrington,Β with the assistance of the Lake County Air-One helicopter.
