LAKE ZURICH, IL — A Lake Zurich sports bar has temporarily closed following a fire in the business's basement.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Scoreboard Bar & Grill announced the closure.

"Due to a fire in the basement, we will be temporarily closed for clean up and repairs," the post read. "We are thankful this event occurred after our team left the building. Everyone is safe and sound."

The Lake Zurich Fire Department responded to the blaze late Sunday night, which officials say was likely caused by an electrical issue in the basement, according to the Daily Herald. Firefighters responded after being alerted by police at about 10 p.m. of a burglar alarm at the business at 84 N. Old Rand Road.

It's unclear at this point if the sports bar will be able to reopen by Super Bowl Sunday.
