The Lemont Park District is pleased to share an exciting update regarding Athens Park in downtown Lemont.
The District is thrilled to announce that the playground, pavilions, and walking path are now open for community enjoyment! These new amenities provide inviting spaces for families and visitors to gather, play, and relax while showcasing the continued growth and development of this beautiful park.
While the park continues to take shape, the District is still collaborating with contractors on additional finishing touches throughout the site. Enhanced landscaping and other amenities, including signage and historical markers, will continue to be added in the coming weeks. The Barkyard Dog Park requires more time for turf establishment and is expected to open in Spring 2026.

Temporary barricades may be in place at times as construction continues, and visitors are asked to use caution when entering the area. Some amenities may be temporarily unavailable periodically, but we appreciate your patience and understanding.
The Village of Lemont continues to improve access under the BNSF (Burlington Northern Santa Fe) Railway overpass that serves as the entrance to the park area with repair work and replacement of the limestone underneath the overpass. This ongoing project for the entrance will include new pavement, pavement striping, pedestrian and bikeway markings and other safety and aesthetic improvements.
