Cook County Sheriff's Police Provide Polling Place Security
Sheriff's Police will also investigate reports of prohibited conduct at polling locations.
COOK COUNTY, IL — The Cook County Sheriff's Police will be at polling sites across suburban Cook County on Tuesday to provide polling place security, according to a news release.
The Sheriff’s Police has been working closely with the Cook County Clerk’s Office, which is the election authority for suburban Cook County, on polling place security during this election cycle and will continue to do so on Election Day, the release states.
“We want the citizens of Cook County to feel safe and secure while exercising their right to vote,” Sheriff Thomas Dart said in a release.

Sheriff’s Police will also investigate reports of prohibited conduct at polling locations, such as electioneering, preventing people from voting and failing to comply with an election judge’s order.
In addition to polling place security, the Sheriff’s Office sent information to suburban police departments about laws regarding polling places including the authority of election judges, who is allowed inside polling places and prohibited conduct at polling sites, according to the release.

The Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone who sees suspicious activity at their polling location to call 911 or Sheriff’s Police at 847-635-1188.
