LEMONT, IL — With holiday gatherings and the emerging omicron surge of coronavirus combining to send demand for tests skyrocketing past supplies, an increasing number of Lemont residents have been seeking COVID-19 testing but have found it unavailable or difficult to obtain.

COVID-19 test positivity in suburban Cook County rose to 7.8 percent, as of Tuesday, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health. There were nearly 240,000 tests performed in the suburban county during the week ending Dec. 18, the most recent data available from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
