Lemont Sophomore Again Earns IHSA Class 2A Cross Country All-State Honors

LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School sophomore Hannah Farley matched a program record at the 2025 IHSA Class 2A Girls’ Cross Country State Finals, which were contested on Nov. 8 at Detweiller Park in Peoria, the school shared in a news release. Farley placed 24th to become just the second two-time all-state performer in program history, as Lemont placed 16th in the team standings.

Junior Scott Biedess also made his state finals debut at the 2025 IHSA Class 2A Boys’ Cross Country State Finals.

Farley’s time of 17:45.70 was a season best on a 3-mile course and is the seventh-fastest time in school history. Kaylie Politza finished in a school-record time of 17:22.80 at the 2019 IHSA Class 2A State Finals when she set a program best with her fifth-place finish. Farley already holds five of the top ten fastest 3-mile times in program history, according to LHS.

Senior Maggie Davey (86th; 18:53.48), sophomore Lizzy Rupsis (105th; 19:11.72), sophomore Amelia Sinnett (135th; 19:31.96) and senior Cassie Cunningham (181st; 20:07.56) completed the team’s top five at the state finals. Senior Maya Fedko (182nd; 20:08.01) and junior Alexandra Chrisman (195th; 20:26.94) rounded out Lemont’s contingent.

Davey (27th; 19:55.88), Rupsis (41st; 20:24.47), Fedko (51st; 20:31.94) and Cunningham (57th; 20:42.46) rounded out the top five, LHS said.

Lemont was making its third straight team state finals appearance in girls’ cross country, and its 15th overall. After making its initial appearance in 1991, it advanced to state finals competition five straight years from 2007-2011, six straight seasons from 2014-2019, and again each year from 2023-2025. Its best team state finals finish was a fourth-place showing in 2014. Lemont has won nine regional crowns (1991, 2007, 2008, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2023, 2025) and three sectional titles (2008, 2014, 2016).

Biedess made his state finals debut in the boys’ race. He placed 128th individually in a personal best 3-mile time of 15:52.09.

Biedess advanced to the state finals thanks to his finish at the IHSA Geneseo Sectional. He crossed the line in 37th place in a time of 16:25.79, as Lemont finished eighth in the team standings, acccording to LHS. The top seven teams from each of the IHSA’s four Class 2A Sectionals advance to state finals competition, along with the top ten individuals at each sectional from schools that did not qualify for state finals team competition.
