1 Person Killed, 1 injured In 2-Vehicle Libertyville Crash: Police
One driver was killed after being trapped in their vehicle in the late-night crash that took place on U.S. Highway 45 and Peterson Road.
LIBERTYVILLE, IL — One person was killed after being trapped in their car following a crash on Sunday night on U.S. Highway 45, Libertyville Police said on Monday.
Police have not released the identity of the driver pending the notification of their family. The crash took place at 11:45 p.m. Sunday and involved two vehicles on U.S. Highway 45 and Peterson Road, police said in a news release.
Police said that one of the drivers was trapped in their vehicle due to the extensive damage caused by the crash. The driver had to be extricated by Libertyville firefighters and was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead.

The other driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for medical attention, police said.
The crash remains under investigation and police are not releasing any further information. Officials said the identity of the driver killed will be released by the Lake County Coroner’s Office when appropriate.
