2 Injured In Drive-By Shooting; 2 Arrested After High-Speed Chase
A man and juvenile are accused of opening fire on a car, injuring two women in North Chicago. The shooters lead police on a chase Sunday.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — A man and juvenile are in custody following a drive-by shooting in northeastern Lake County. The duo lead police on a chase across northern Lake County early Sunday before they crashed their car and were apprehended, police said.
Meanwhile, the two women who were shot have been hospitalized, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office first responded to the reported shooting at about 2 a.m. Sunday. They were called to the area of Green Bay Road and Bonnie Brooke Lane in Beach Park where they found a vehicle in a ditch with extensive damage. Two women in the vehicle had gunshot wounds — one was shot in the eye and the other was shot in the leg, police said.

A responding deputy applied a tourniquet to the woman’s leg, helping save her life, and both women were transported to area hospitals and are expected to survive, according to a news release.
Police say the women were shot after leaving a bar in North Chicago. They were driving home on Green Bay Road when a grey Dodge pulled up alongside them and the occupants in the Dodge opened fire on their vehicle. Deputies later recovered several spent shell casings in the area, according to the news release.

The shooters left the scene, police said. A Waukegan police officer attempted to pull the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat over on Sunset Avenue but it fled at a high rate of speed. At about 2:40 a.m., deputies spotted the car heading south on Route 41 near Route 173 and tried to pull the vehicle over but it again sped away.
Another deputy attempted to pull the Dodge over while it was headed east on Route 173 but it again got away. A Zion Police Department officer used a tire deflation device, which stuck the vehicle, but the driver still continued speeding, evading officers.
The vehicle ended up crashing into a heavily wooded area near Route 173 and Joana Avenue in Zion, and the occupants fled on foot, police said.
Drones, police dogs and deputies aided in a search of the alleged shooters and both were located and taken into custody, police said. Authorities found a rifle and pistol in the Dodge and another pistol in the backyard where one of the shooters was arrested, according to the news release.
Police believe the Dodge they were driving was stolen from Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. An investigation is ongoing.
