2 Seriously Injured In DUI Crash Into Self Storage Building
The driver faces DUI and reckless driving charges following the Sunday crash in Beach Park.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A 23-year-old Waukegan man and a 25-year-old Antioch man have been hospitalized with serious injuries following a collision into a self-storage building over the weekend.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office was called to the crash at about 3 a.m. on Sunday and found a Chevrolet Silverado fully engulfed in flames at the business in the 37000 block of North Sheridan Road in Beach Park.
Authorities say Good Samaritans pulled the driver and passenger from the vehicle and are credited with likely saving their lives.

The driver of the Silverado, Roy R. Montoya-Medina, 23, of Waukegan, and a passenger in the vehicle, a 25-year-old Antioch man, were taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, including severe burns, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
Police say Montoya-Medina was driving east on Blanchard Road at a high rate of speed when he drove through a grassy area and collided with the south side of the self-storage building. The Silverado ignited in flames after running into the building.

According to authorities, Montoya-Medina was driving while under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. He has been charged with DUI-alcohol and reckless driving, and he is scheduled to appear in court in Lake County on Jan. 24.
Building inspectors were called to the scene to determine the building’s structural integrity, police said.
