Back to School Bash to be Held for Highland Middle School Sixth-Graders
The event will be held Aug. 18.

A few Libertyville moms want to make sure incoming sixth-graders at Highland Middle School have a great start to the new school year.
The moms will host a Back to School Bash at Lake Minear from 1-3 p.m. Aug. 18.
The event is open to all incoming sixth-graders from Highland Middle School, and their parents are welcome to stay as well.
"It'll be good to see a familiar face and see people you haven't seen all summer," said Kim Waitek Bissing, who is one of the moms organizing the event. Her son will be a sixth-grader this year.
The event is free, but the children are asked to bring certain items. Boys should bring a six-pack of soda, water or juice, while girls should bring a half-dozen cookies or a bag of chips.Â
Bissing said Lake Minear has hired additional lifeguards for that day, but parents are welcome to stay and serve as chaperones if they'd like to.
