Boat Dedicated In Memory Of Boy, 10, Killed By Intoxicated Boater
A new Lake County Sheriff's Office patrol boat has been dedicated in memory of Tony Borcia and the Y-noT project.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A new patrol boat on the Chain o' Lakes has been dedicated in honor of a 10-year-old Libertyville boy, who was killed by an intoxicated boater in 2012.
In a ceremony this past week, the Lake County Sheriff's Office dedicated its new Fluid Watercraft Patrol Boat to Tony Borcia and the Y-noT Project, which is a non-profit organization started by Borcia's family following his death.
The organization is meant to honor Borcia and is dedicated to stopping intoxicated boaters and providing financial assistance to victims of intoxicated boaters, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

The Y-noT Project has invested hundreds of thousands of dollars into measures to keep recreational Chain O’Lakes users safer when enjoying the waterways.
The Y-noT Project donated $75,000.00 to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office to use to fund equipment and arrest impaired boaters, according to the news release. The generous donation allowed the sheriff’s office to free up funds to purchase a new Chain O’Lakes patrol boat.
A Y-noT Project will be displayed on the newest Chain O’Lakes Patrol Boat.
In 2013, David Hatyina, 51, of Bartlett, received a 10-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to operating a boat while under the influence of cocaine and alcohol on the Chain O' Lakes in the collision that killed Borcia.
