LAKE COUNTY, IL — Lake County officials are thanking those who are answering the call for much needed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) supplies to help reduce the spread of the coronavirus. In a news release from Lake County officials, local entities are responding to the urgent need for PPE with donations of supplies. Since last week, several local groups — North Chicago-based AbbVie Inc., Lincolnshire-based companies Alight Solutions and Van Vlissingen and Co., and North Chicago-based Rosalind Franklin University — have all made generous donations, according to the news release.

In total, the county said donations have included more than 2,000 N-95 masks, more than 40,000 surgical and face masks, more than 600 gowns, 450 lab coats, hundreds of gloves, more than 1,000 shoe covers and booties, 400 sleeve covers and more. According to the news release, Lake County will distribute the supplies to local long-term care facilities, many of which have residents or staff members who have tested positive for the coronavirus.
