Coronavirus: Libertyville HS Participating In Friday Night Lights

Organizers say the lights program will take place each week until schools reopen and sports continue, the Daily Herald reported.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Libertyville High School and several other high schools across Illinois are participating in Friday Night Lights — shining light on students, first responders, health care workers and community members as part of a nationwide movement during the coronavirus pandemic, the Daily Herald said. Libertyville Athletic Director John Woods will turn on the high school's stadium lights at 8 p.m. Friday — the 20th hour of the day — and they'll stay on for 20 minutes to honor the Class of 2020, during what he told the Daily Herald is a time to demonstrate solidarity as part of Lights for the Fight.

The news report added that organizers say the program will take place each week until schools reopen and sports continue, but they'll remain closed until at least April 30 due to the executive order of Gov. J.B. Pritzker.
