Coronavirus: Mundelein Schools, Locals Deliver Food To Families

80 families from Mundelein and neighboring school districts in need during the coronavirus pandemic received essential items Saturday.

MUNDELEIN, IL — Volunteers from Mundelein school districts 120 and 75, Fremont School District 79, and community members got together Saturday to provide much-needed items to area residents with children in need. According to the Daily Herald, 80 families from Mundelein and neighboring school districts received supplies and groceries during the third giveaway of its kind at The Chapel, located at 1966 W. Hawley Street. According to the news report, these drive-up delivery events aren't open to everyone, as families in need are identified by social workers and parent coordinators, although school officials do consider referrals.

Food items are donated by community members, and residents can drop off items in weatherproof bins at The Chapel, where they're sorted throughout the week. The Daily Herald said the next food delivery event is scheduled for April 18, as school officials plan to continue this every other Saturday while schools remain closed.
