Coroner IDs 3 Killed In House Fire
Scott Copen, 58, Gina Copen, 54, and Cristal Copen, 41, all died in the blaze in Zion Tuesday night, according to the Lake County Coroner.
ZION, IL — Three family members killed in a house fire in Zion have been identified.
The blaze broke out at about 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday at a home in the 2900 block of Enoch Avenue in Zion. Scott Copen, 58, Gina Copen, 54, and Cristal Copen, 41, were all killed in the Tuesday night fire, according to a news release from the Lake County Coroner's Office.
All three died from thermal injuries and injuries consistent with inhalation of products of combustion/smoke inhalation.

Fire crews were called to the blaze, which broke out at the two-story home in the 2900 block of Enoch Avenue in Zion at about 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, according to a news release from the Zion Fire & Rescue Department. When fire crews arrived at the scene, they found flames coming from several areas of the home.
Emergency crews found three people inside the home who they were not able to resuscitate and who did not survive, fire officials said. Meanwhile, one woman was taken to Vista East Medical Center for treatment of smoke inhalation.

It took firefighters four hours to put out the blaze, according to the news release.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
